Biomass and Carbon stock in Urban Trees

Funded: Various sources.

Years: 2013- Current.

Miami, Florida, US

Description: We use allometric equations to calculate the biomass, and carbon captured by Urban Trees, as our contribution to the Mitigation of Climate Change. We focus on Street Trees, Park Trees, and Small Pockets of Forest in cities. We have been able to determine that a single hardwood tree can capture up to 9,500 kg of Carbon, removing CO2 from the atmosphere.
