Jose M. Zolotoff-Pallais has a Master’s in Environmental Sciences, in the University of Engineering, in Managua, Nicaragua, and a Bachelor’s in Ecology and Natural Resources, in the Universidad of Central America, in Managua, Nicaragua, as well. Jose has more than 20 years of experience in ornithology and monitoring of biodiversity, as part of Environmental Impact Assessments in different projects, and expertise in environmental education with birds in rural communities. Eight years of experience in wildlife monitoring at wind farms in Nicaragua and other countries in Central America. He has taught multiple workshops on bird identification and conservation in Nicaragua. He was the Director of Research and Training in Cocibolca Foundation for the Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve, Granada, from 1996 to 2022, and is the author of several scientific articles on bird conservation and a co-author of the red list of endangered bird species in Nicaragua. He currently collaborates with Gaia International.
